We have high expectations for every child in our care ensuring they are achieving success and becoming confident and resilient learners.
We recognise that all children are individuals and welcome children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families. We recognise the importance of early identification and the timely provision of appropriate high quality support.
In Ofsted's 2023 report, the wrote "All Children, including those who receive additional funding, make good progress from starting point."
At Colourbox Nursery, we support children’s learning using The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
The framework sets out three prime areas of learning and development and four specific areas. Children should mostly develop the three prime areas first as they are the most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
If a space becomes available, you will be offered the place. On acceptance of the offer, we will arrange for you to to commence the admission process, confirm your child’s start date and arrange their settling-in period with you..
If you wish your child to be placed on our waiting list, complete the form that can be found on our home page, submit it and our registration form will be emailed to you. Once completed, return it by clicking on the submit button and your child will be placed on our waiting list for when a space becomes available.
Coming to a new nursery for the first time can be a bewildering experience for both parent and child, so at Colourbox, we will provide you and your child with a very warm welcome where you can feel safe, secure, happy and very well cared for.
At Colourbox Nursery we ease children in gently because we understand parents can be conscientious when leaving their child in nursery for the first time. We strive to build a trusting relationship with the child and their parents through our high standards of care and a gradual admission programme.
The settling-in period gives us the opportunity to gather as much knowledge of your child as possible and can also be an opportunity to discuss any anxieties or queries you may have.
At Colourbox Nursery, we educate and encourage our children to develop healthy eating habits by providing healthy and nutritious lunch, fresh drinking water, milk and healthy snacks for all our children each day.
We are a vegetarian Nursery
Our lunches provides our children with all the nutrients they need for their learning and development.. We cater for all dietary requirements, special needs or religious beliefs – lactose intolerant, diabetes, celiac, gluten free, vegetarian or any other requirements.
We have a ‘duty of care’ to our children and do our best to make sure they feel safe and secure whilst in our care. We are committed to working in partnership with parents ensuring the welfare of the child our first priority. We encourage our parents to raise any concerns they may have with their child's keyperson or the manager.
Your child’s safety is paramount. Colourbox Nursery operates a range of procedures to ensure that children are kept safe and do not get lost.
We follow our local authorities’ safeguarding and child protection guidelines. These guidelines ensure your child's interest comes first and the responsibilities of all involved in their care are clear.
All staff receive safeguarding and child protection training so that they understand and follow these guidelines:
When you accept an offer of a place at Colourbox Nursery, your child will be allocated a key person, who will be your first point of contact. The key person will arrange a meeting with you and explain our routine.
All staff members work with all the children, but your child’s key person is your first port of call. They will be responsible for agreeing a suitable programme that will help your child settle into nursery, taking into account their individual needs. Your child’s key person will be also responsible for monitoring and capturing their learning and development.
Parents are welcome to arrange to meet your child’s key person if you have any concerns, or if you have information about your child’s development you want to share.
If the key person isn’t available, a named co-key person will carry out the key-persons responsibilities. We operate a co-keyperson system so that your child always has a familiar staff to care for their needs.
Colourbox Nursery keeps observations and records on your child and we are keen that our parents are able to contribute to them too.
We provide this opportunity via our electronic journal known as 'Baby's Days' where parents can view photos we upload for their child via the Baby's Days App and in addition have their own parent photo gallery where they can upload photos of their child. We link the observations of your child to the 'areas of learning' to record your child's development.
As Children Grow and Develop, the Prime Areas of Learning will Help Them Develop Further Skills in the Four Specific Areas of Learning
Encouraging children develop an interest in reading and writing and begin to link and distinguish sounds in words and link them to letters.
Providing children with opportunities to develop skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, simple addition and subtraction and to develop an understanding of shapes, sizes and measures.
Providing opportunities for children to make sense of their physical world and their community through exploration, observing and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.
Enabling children explore a wide range of media and materials and providing opportunities for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through art, music, movement, dance, role play and design and technology.
